The Deschutes River was designated an Oregon Scenic Waterway in 1970 and a Federal Wild and Scenic River in 1988. The river is world famous for it's steelhead and trout fishing and is used extensively during the summer months for white water rafting. At times you could see Califonia big horn sheep, mule deer, coyotes, beaver, raccoon, otter, bald and golden eagles, osprey, geese, ducks, and other wildlife.
