Jet Boat Tour Details

Join guide Brad Staples of Western Fishing Adventures Ltd. on a scenic jet boat tour of the lower Deschutes River. The 50 mile round trip launches from the mouth of the Deschutes River and travels upriver to Mack's Canyon and back.

The trip is an adventure that will guide you through a scenic river canyon with majestic basalt rock formations on either side. The river is challenging to navigate with five Class 3 rapids and it takes experience and skill to make for a successful trip.

The Deschutes River was desgnated an Oregon Scenic Waterway in 1970 and a Federal Wild and Scenic River in 1988. The river is world famous for it's steelhead and trout fishing and is used extensively during the summer months for white water rafting. At times you could see California big horn sheep, mule deer, coyotes, beaver, raccoon, otter, bald and golden eagles, osprey, geese, ducks, and other wildlife.

Tours run the months of JUNE and JULY only and are approximately four-five hours long. More time on the water can be accommodated if requested. The trips start and end at Heritage Landing where the Deschutes flows into the Columbia River 15 miles east of The Dalles, Oregon.

The cost of the trip is $900 for up to six people, the price is the same if there is one person or six people, I don't mix groups. Lunch and bottled water are provided. Trips must be scheduled at least one week in advance and will run rain or shine unless the river flow is too high for safe navigation.

Captain Brad Staples can recommend nearby lodging, restaurants, and other activities. Heritage Landing is only 35 miles from Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge which is a mecca for wind surfing, kiteboarding, and hiking.
